Young scientists and engineers have wrapped up their three-day course on the nature and structure, processing, properties and applications of composite materials at IMDEA Materials Institute in Getafe (Spain).
14 students from ATG Europe B.V, University of Castilla la Mancha, Wroclaw University of Technology, Coventry University, Ideko S.Coop and IMDEA Materials Institute attended daily lectures by leading scientists from academia and industry. In the afternoons, the students were given practical lessons on the processing on composites and modeling.
The summer school on composite materials was supported by the DYNACOMP project, as part of the training of the 2 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) of the network.
Dr. Martin Simmons (HEXCEL), delivering an introduction to composites
Participants manufacturing composite panels on day 1
Prof. Javier Llorca (IMDEA) explaining the virtual testing of composites on day 2
Tamara Blanco (AIRBUS) explaining the new challenges composites face for aeronautical applications on day 3
The recruitment process to cover 2 research assistants positions (Early Stage Researchers) within the DYNACOMP project is now closed. The selected candidates are Maria Azzurra (Master’s degree in Materials Engineering by the University of Salento in Italy) and Mario Rueda (Master of Science in Aerospace Engineering by the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands).
GETAFE (SPAIN) 11 – 13 JULY 2017
Composite materials are nowadays extensively used in applications where outstanding mechanical properties are necessary in combination with weight savings. Their increased use has presented new challenges to engineers, largely due to the highly complex failure mechanisms of composite materials but also due to the many uncertainties that can exist in their manufacturing process. This summer school aims providing young engineers and researchers a rapid knowledge of the state-of-the art in the field (nature and structure, processing, properties and applications in different sectors) via a hands-on training experience.
Renowned experts in the field of composite research, producers of advanced composites and developers of testing equipment from IMDEA Materials Institute, HEXCEL Composites and Airbus. Speakers from other industries will also participate (see the program below).
This event is organized as part of the DYNACOMP (Dynamic behaviour of composite materials for next generation aeroengines) training network, funded by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions under grant agreement nº 722096.
The registration fee is € 200,00 (VAT included) per participant, including coffee, lunch, shuttle service from central Madrid and course materials. Attendance is limited to 30 people in order of registration.
In order to register, please fill the registration form below and send it via email to email@example.com. After registration, an invoice will be issued to the attendee (to be paid via bank transfer).

IMDEA Materials, as coordinator of the DYNACOMP network, attended an information day for ITN actions organized by the Research Executive Agency (REA) past 12/12/2012 in Brussels (Belgium). During the event, the REA (funding agency of the DYNACOMP project) provided detailed instructions and guidelines concerning recruitment, financial management, reporting, intellectual property, open access, ethics and communication of research results.
DYNACOMP has been selected by the Spanish National Contact Points (NCP) for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) to be showcased as a success story in an info day related to call 2017 of MSCA Innovative Training Networks (ITNs). This event will be celebrated next November 3rd 2016 at the headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. These type of events are intended to help future proposers
